Sindoori is the word for the particular rust-red of sindoor - the colour has centuries of meaning. We were drawn to it for a different reason: it is one of those grounds that makes a printed fabric look like it was always meant to be printed. The kalamkari motifs on this dress - large botanical, drawn in blue and cream - were made for exactly this ground. The plain indigo dupatta was added last, and immediately felt like the only possible companion.
